Abstract

The Oenesu Waterfall area is located in Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara which is used as a tourist attraction, has an area that is watered throughout the season and a location that is directly adjacent to argricultural areas so that it is overgrown with very diverse vegetation as a source of feed for the survival of butterflies. The purpose of this study was determine the richness of butterfly species (Lepidoptera) in the Oenesu Waterfall Area. The method used in this study is the roaming method. Observations were made on three habitat types, namely park, forest area and waterfall areas. Sampling is carried out by Sweepnet method. The samples obtained were prepared by injecting 70% formalin and stretching the wings on a stretch board (steroform). The butterfly is then identified based on the identification book. The results of the study found 23 spesies of butterfly divided onto 4 families, namely Papilionidae four types, Nymphalidae thirteen types, Pieridae five types and Lycaenidae one types. The species wealth indeks in the Oenesu waterfall area is classified into the high category with a value of R = 4,09.
