Abstract

This study purpose to determine the effect of realistics mathematics learning models on the ability to solve mathematics of SMP. This type of research is quantitative research with experimental methods and one group pretest-posttest design. As for the population in this study, nemaly all grade VII of SMP Negeri 20 kupang city, while the sample in this study is the VIIF class of 30 students selected using the random sampling technique. The instrument used to measure the ability of SMP to solve mathematical problems in the form of essay test, amounting to 3 questions. The data analysis technique used is the t test. The data used in the study are the pretest and posttest data from the experimental class tauhgt using realistic mathematics learning models to the ability to solve math problem of junior high school students. The data obtained were analyzed using the SPSS version 22 program. Before testing the hypotesis, a prerequisite test is normality for the pretest and posttest data. from the results of data analysis for the pretest values statistic = 0,013 < 0,05 = α and Dhitung = 0,908 < 0,242 = Dtabel then concluded the data were normally distributed. Hypotesis testing uses paired sample test. The analysis shows the value statistic= 0,000 < 0,05 = α and thitung = -16,53 > -2,045 = ttabel so it was concluded that there was an influence of the use of realistic mathematics laerning models on the ability to solve math problems of junior high school students. Based on the results of this study, the outhors suggest for teachers to be able to make realistic mathematics learning models as a method in the process of learning mathematics by adjusting the material being taught.
