Abstract

This research explores the potential application of Belu vernacular architectural elements in the planning of the Wehor tourist area, Belu Regency. Aiming to integrate the richness of local architectural culture with sustainable tourism development, this study identifies key elements of traditional Belu architecture that are relevant for adaptation in the design of tourism facilities such as accommodations, information centers, kiosks, and public spaces. Through a descriptive analysis approach and comparative study, this research examines the visual characteristics, materiality, and spatial planning principles of Belu architecture, as well as evaluating its transformative potential to meet the functional and aesthetic needs of modern tourist areas. The results of the study are expected to provide innovative and contextual design recommendations, create a unique visual identity for the Wehor tourist area, enhance tourist experiences through the appreciation of local culture, and contribute to the preservation of Belu's architectural heritage. The appropriate application of vernacular elements is expected to strengthen Wehor's appeal as a culturally rich and sustainable tourism destination.
