Abstract

This thesis is titled “Fashion Style as a Medium of Self-Identity for Dancers (A Case Study of the Dancer Zero¹ Crew Community)”. The focus of this research is how fashion style becomes a medium of self-identity for the Dancer Zero One Crew community. This study aims to explore the role of fashion style as a medium of self-identity for the Dancer Zero One Crew community. The research method used in this study is a case study research method with a descriptive qualitative research type. This study uses interviews, observations, and document analysis to analyze the clothing choices of dancers that reflect the characteristics and values of the Dancer Zero One Crew community, using Michel Hect's Identity Communication Theory. In this study, there are four indicators: the Personal Layer, the Executive Layer, the Relational Layer, and the Communal Layer. The results of the study indicate that clothing style is more than just appearance; it is an effective communication tool for expressing one's identity and creating a positive image in the eyes of society. Additionally, the Zero One Crew dancer community serves as a space for social growth and identity development, where emotional support and shared experiences help individuals become more open and capable of socializing. Thus, this study demonstrates that fashion style has a significant impact on identity formation, particularly within the context of a dynamic and creative artistic community, and reinforces that fashion style is more than just appearance; it is an important communication tool for expressing personal identity and strengthening the community's position within a broader social context.
