Abstract

The rapid development of urban areas in Indonesia has improved the quality of life of the people economically, but has not fully had a positive impact on public health physically, psychologically, and socially. One solution to overcome this challenge is through the provision of green open spaces such as city parks that can function as recreational facilities while supporting public health. Kupang City has Taman Nostalgia as one of the strategic green open spaces located in the city center and adjacent to health service facilities. However, the current condition of the park is not optimal in its maintenance and utilization. This research aims to provide a design concept proposal that is in accordance with the criteria of RTH and good public open space in the Kupang Nostalgia Park and can solve the common problems of the residents of the area, namely the rampant cases of mental disorders with the healing garden designation. Through the healing garden approach, the design of this garden is expected to create an environment that is not only aesthetic and comfortable, but also has health value that is beneficial to urban communities.
