Abstract

This research was written by Simon Andisca Pehan Hadjon (31121049), Development Economics Study Program of the Faculty of Economics and Business under the guidance of Supervisor I Mr. Adrianus Ketmoen, S.E., M.M and Supervisor II Mr. Salomon Leki, SVD, S.E., M.E.Ec.Dev with the title "Analysis of the Role of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) in Encouraging Local Economy in the Digital Era (Case Study of Naikolan Village, Kupang City). This research aims to analyze the role of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) in encouraging local economic growth in the digital era, focusing on UMKM actors in Naikolan Village, Kupang City. UMKM is one of the important pillars in community economic development because it is able to absorb labor, increase residents' income, and encourage community-based economic activities. In the digital era, MSMEs face challenges as well as new opportunities, such as the utilization of social media, digital platforms, and non-cash payment technology. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews with 42 UMKM actors from various types of businesses, such as culinary, services, trade, and home production. The research results show that most of the UMKM actors in Naikolan Village have started to utilize digital media, especially social media, for promotion and sales. Although the level of technology utilization still varies, digitalization is proven to have a positive impact on market expansion and operational efficiency. In addition, MSMEs also have a social role in strengthening family economic resilience and creating social interaction space at the local level. This study concludes that the role of MSMEs in encouraging the local economy in the digital era is very significant, but support is still needed in the form of digital training, access to capital, and continuous assistance from the government and related parties.
