Abstract
The study aims 1) to determine the cognitive learning outcomes of SMP Negeri 20 Kupang, after applying the Problem Based Learning model with the help of simple machine props, 2) to determine the increase in students’ cognitive learning outcomes after learning with the help of simple machine props. This study was conducted at SMP Negeri 20 Kupang. The sample of this study was 22 students of class VIII C. The data collection technique used learning outcomes test questions and was analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The average of students’learning outcomes was 31,82 with vwry low criteria. The results showed that the posttest score was higher than the pretest with a significance of 0,001 < 0,05. This shows that the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by simple machine props in improving learning outcomes experienced an increase with an N-Gain score of 0,77 with high criteria. So it can be concluded that the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning mdel with the help of simple machine demonstration tools can improve the learning outcomes of class VIII C student at SMP Negeri 20 Kupang.
