Abstract

Thesis Title: The Influence of the Implementation of Placement and Distribution Services on the Achievement Motivation of Grade VIII Students at SMP Katolik Sta. Theresia Kota Kupang in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. The problem in this study is: Is there an influence of the implementation of placement and distribution services on the achievement motivation of Grade VIII students at SMP Katolik Sta. Theresia, Kupang City in the 2024/2025 academic year? This study aims to determine the influence of the implementation of placement and distribution services on students' achievement motivation. The type of research used is descriptive quantitative. The study population consists of all 120 Grade VIII students. A sample of 30 students was selected using the simple random sampling technique. Data collection instruments used a Likert scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The validity test results showed that all items were declared valid r_calculated (0,489)> r_table (0,312), a nd the reliability test produced a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.829 for the placement and distribution services and 0.845 for achievement motivation. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression with the help of SPSS for Windows version 24. The analysis results showed that the f_calculated value of 10.122 is greater than the f_table value of 4.171, with a significance level of 0.004 (< 0.05). The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.266, meaning that the implementation of placement and distribution services contributes 26.6% to students' achievement motivation. Meanwhile, the remaining 73.4% is influenced by other factors outside this study, such as family support, peer environment, and economic conditions. Thus, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, indicating a significant influence. Based on the results of the study, the following recommendations are given: (a) To the Principal, to continue supporting the implementation of placement and distribution services by providing facilities and policies that support student potential development. (b) To Guidance and Counseling Teachers, to optimize the planning and implementation of these services through individual and group counseling to increase students’ motivation, especially for those with low motivation. (c) To Students, to take advantage of these services to understand their potential, develop their talents, and increase their enthusiasm for achieving academic success.
