Abstract

Mental Hospital is a place to provide and provide special health services to treat people who have psychiatric disorders. Psychiatric disorders are a syndrome of individual behavior patterns that are related to a symptom of suffering and weakness in one or more important functions of humans, namely psychological, behavioral, biological functions, these disorders affect the relationship between oneself and society. The function of the Mental Hospital is an institution that provides health services, especially mental health, which includes efforts that are promotional, preventive, healing, and recovery in nature. In order for this Mental Hospital to function optimally according to its designation, an approach in architectural science is needed that is in accordance with the behavior of users, especially patients, and can accommodate all health service activities within the Mental Hospital itself. Architecture and Behavior is one approach in architectural science, and is important in designing this Mental Hospital facility, because human behavior is based on sociocultural and health influences which also influence the architectural process.The purpose of using the Architectural and Behavioral approach in the design of this Mental Hospital, is to rehabilitate and foster the mental / mental health of patients who are generally disturbed, by providing a safe, comfortable atmosphere, minimizing tension and even being able to create an aura of positive psychological emotional therapy for the patient to get a complete cure.
