Abstract
The results of discussions with partner school teachers revealed that the lack of practice questions in learning caused the students not to be able to develop their creative thinking processes properly. Therefore, in this study, data regarding the creative thinking process of students in solving mathematical problems will be taken in terms of the personality types of students. Referring to the personality theory according to David Keirsey, students at school can be classified into 4 personality types, namely the Guardian personality type, the Artisan personality type, the Idealist personality type, and the Rational personality type. The stage used in the creative thinking process is the creative thinking process according to Wallas which includes the stages of preparation, incubation, illumination, and verification. The research subjects consisted of 4 students. Subject selection is based on personality type, math scores, and communication skills. The main instrument is the researcher and auxiliary instruments, namely the results of the personality type test, the results of the written test of mathematics problems, and the results of interviews on mathematics problems in stage I and stage II. The results showed: (1) the creative thinking process of students with the guardian personality type was able to pass the preparation, incubation and illumination stages but at the verification stage students could not test solutions using other methods but could re-examine the answers; (2) the creative thinking process of students with the Artisan personality type can pass the preparation stage well, but at the incubation stage the solutions found are not right, at the illumination stage the strategies used cannot answer the questions correctly and at the verification stage the subject does not find other solutions to test the results of the answer; (3) the creative thinking process of students with idealistic personality types can complete the preparation, incubation, and illumination stages well but at the verification stage students cannot apply new ideas to test problem solutions; (4) the creative thinking process of students with a rational personality type can skip the preliminary stage well but at the incubation stage the solution obtained is not right so that at the illumination stage the solution strategy found cannot answer the problem correctly and cannot find other solutions to solve the problem. , and at the verification stage, students do not test the solutions obtained using other methods but only recalculate the answers obtained.
