Abstract
This study was held to find the answers of two questions. (1) Are the tenth grade students of SMA Seminary St. Rafael Oepoi Kupang in the school year 2017/2018 able to write a procedure text? (2) What is the ability level of the SMA Seminary St. Rafael Oepoi Kupang in writing procedure text? This study focused on grammar, vocabulary and content. The method used in this study was descriptive method. The aim of the method is to explain a situation which is observed while this research done. The subject of this study was the SMA Seminary St. Rafael Oepoi Kupang. The total number of the tenth grade students is 23. By using purposive sampling the writer only chose class x language program. Total of them 10 students to become the respondents of this study. The instrument used for this research was writing a procedure text. The data was gathered and analyzed. The result of this study indicated that the tenth grade students of SMA Seminary St. Rafael Oepoi Kupang especially class x language program in the school year 2017/2018 are able to write procedure text. Their level of ability is classified as Above Average (11). Based on the result of this study, there are 3 students who got highest score 16-18 (30%) which is classified as Excellent, 6 students who got score 7-9 (60%) which is classified as below as average, no student who got score 13-15 (0%) which is classified as very good, 1 student who got 10-12 (10%) which is classified as above average, no student who got score 4-6 (0%) which is classified as below average and there was no student who got score 3 (0%) which is classified as bad. Therefore, the writer suggests the English teacher of SMA Seminary St. Rafael Oepoi Kupang should give more atttention on the teaching of content especially to arrange the sentence and teaching of grammar especially simple present tense, article, the use of linking verb to be, the use of pronoun, teaching of vocabulary. While the students should pay attention on learning of content especially to arrange the sentence, and pay attention on learning grammar especially simple present tense, article, the use of linking verb to be, the use of pronoun.
