Abstract
The research entitled "AN ANALYSIS OF GRAMMATICAL ERRORS IN STUDENTS' WRITING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT" aims to present information about errors in grammar in writing descriptive texts made by Sixth Semester Students of English Education Study Program of Widya Mandira Catholic University Kupang. The writer used surface strategy taxonomy in analyzing errors. The results errors in students writing consist of some types and the total number of errors is 44. The most frequent errors committed by 20 students are; omission with the total number of 25(56.81) made by 17 students, misformation with the total number of errors of 13(29.54) made by 9 students, addition with the total number of errors of 5(11.36) made by 5 students and in misordering the total number of error is only 1(2.27) made by 1 student. The suggestion is the students have to learn a lot about grammar especially in tenses, verb, noun, adjective, conjunction, preposition, suffix and article.
