Abstract
Thesis title: The Relationship between Self-Control and Juvenile Delinquency in Class XI Social Sciences 2 SMA Negeri 1 Nagawutung Academic Year 2021/2022. The problems in this study are: 1) General problems: Is there a significant relationship between self-control and juvenile delinquency in class XI IPS 2 SMA Negeri 1 Nagawutung academic year 2021/2022?; 2) Specific problem: Is there a significant relationship between the sub-variables of self-control (behavioral control, cognitive control, decision control) and juvenile delinquency in class XI IPS 2 SMA Negeri 1 Nagawutung academic year 2021/2022? The aims of this study are: 1) General objectives: To find out the significant relationship between self-control and juvenile delinquency in class XI IPS 2 SMA Negeri 1 Nagawutung in the academic year 2021/2022; 2) Specific objectives: To find out the significant relationship between self-control sub-variables (behavioral control, cognitive control, decision control) and juvenile delinquency in class XI Social Sciences 2 SMA Negeri 1 Nagawutung academic year 2021/2022. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative method. The data collection tool used is a questionnaire/questionnaire. The data analysis technique used the Product Moment correlation formula and processed using the SPSS for windows version 26 application. The variables in this study consisted of the independent variable (X), namely self-control and the dependent variable, namely juvenile delinquency (Y). The sample of this research is the students of class XI IPS 2 SMA Negeri 1 Nagawutung in the academic year 2021/2022, totaling 22 people. The results of data analysis show that between variable X, namely self-control and variable Y, namely juvenile delinquency, there is a correlation coefficient of -0.576 and a significance value of 0.005 <0.01 which indicates that there is a significant negative correlation between self-control and juvenile delinquency. Furthermore, in the behavioral control sub variable (X1) and decision control (X3) there is a correlation coefficient of -0.555 and -0.589 and a significance value of 0.007 < 0.01 and 0.004 < 0.01 which indicates that there is a significant negative correlation between behavioral control (X1) and decision control (X3) and juvenile delinquency. While in the cognitive control sub variable (X2) there is a correlation coefficient of -0.334 and a significance value of 0.129> 0.01 which indicates that there is no significant correlation between cognitive control and juvenile delinquency. Based on the results of the research above, the researcher proposes several suggestions to the parties concerned, namely: 1) Principal: is expected to build cooperation with all school personnel to help improve student self-control so that juvenile delinquency behavior is lower. 2) Guidance and Counseling Teachers: expected to be able to build good cooperation with school principals, teachers, parents and other school personnel in increasing student self-control so that juvenile delinquency is lower. 3) Students: are expected to be able to build good self-control in order to be able to avoid delinquency that is often done by teenagers.
