Abstract

This study aims to describe students' mathematical reasoning abilities in solving problems on the material of flat-sided geometry in class VIII students at UPTD SMP N 1 Kupang, this research is referred to as descriptive qualitative research. This research was conducted at the even semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. The subjects of this study were 3 students of class VIII D. Subjects were selected with the criteria of students who had high scores on the daily assessment of the material for constructing a flat side room, and with the teacher's consideration that students were judged to be able to participate in collaboration, and were willing to make the research work smooth and achieve the objectives. The instruments used include using a test which consists of two questions, and interviews. Based on the results of the analysis, each student has different mathematical reasoning abilities, which are categorized into three categories, namely, High, Medium, and Low.
