Abstract

Kanuk aitahan poetry is a traditional community art work which basically wants to express and convey all the feelings, ideas, experiences, ideals and views of the community's life. Kananuk Ai Hold this staged by chanting. In reality, people, especially young people, do not understand well behind Ai Hold's Kanuk poetry. The problem raised in this study is what is the meaning of the poem of Kanuk Ai Tahan in the community of Umalor Village, West Malacca District, Malacca Regency. The purpose of this study was:to find out and describe the meaning of Ai Tahan's right-wing rhyme. The research data were collected by using literature study, documentation, observation, and interview techniques. The data collection tools in this study were observation guidelines, interview guidelines, and recording devices (audio and video). The research data were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The results showed that: The introduction of the meaning of Ai Tahan's right verse in the ha quality event (eating together) and at the time of preserving the body should be preserved by each generation. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the right of Ai Tahan's poetry has a function and meaning that teaches the people of Umalor Village in expressing love, advice, and as a medium of communication with others and their ancestors.
