Abstract
Solmization is a system of assigning a different syllable to each note on a musical scale. A piece of music that is notated in the form of a sheet score must be "turned on" in the form of sound. Music notation of a song can be read by solmization technique. However, there are obstacles that are often found in the interest in the talent of the Catholic Junior High School choir St.Yoseph Naikoten Kupang, namely the lack of understanding of solmization. Based on the problems above, this study aims to apply the solmization reading technique in the Indonesian song fertile in a unison using the solfeggio method to students with an interest in choir talent at St.Yoseph Naikoten Catholic Junior High School Kupang. The research approach used is qualitative, with field action research methods. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that the process of applying the solmization reading technique in the song Indonesia Subur was unison using the solfeggio method for students who were interested in choir talent at Catholic Junior High School St. Yoseph Naikoten Kupang is going well. In the final stage of this research, the research subjects can sing the Indonesian Subur song model with good and correct solmization. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that in the process of applying the solmization reading technique in the song Indonesia Subur, the solmization reading exercise using 1 octave scales was carried out first, the etude-etude reading practice, and the solmization practice in the introductory etude before the model song exercise, so that the research subjects could understand Solmization properly and correctly when singing the song Indonesia Subur, even though it is not optimal. In this study, there were difficulties experienced by the research subjects when practicing solmization reading, but all of them could be overcome by the method used, namely the solfeggio method, which included listening, reading, and singing exercises.
