Abstract

The formulation of the problem in this study are: (1) Does the minimum wage affect the level of educated unemployment in Kupang City?. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the minimum wage on the educated unemployment rate in Kupang City. The type of data used in this research is panel data. Data collection techniques are carried out by documentation and data analysis techniques in this study are using simple regression analysis, correlation coefficient, coefficient of determination and t test. The results of this study indicate that based on simple linear regression, it was found that the Minimum Wage Index variable had a significant effect on the level of educated unemployment in the province of East Nusa Tenggara. If it is assumed that if the Minimum Wage Index increases by 1%, the Educated Unemployment Rate will increase by 2.30633. An increase in the minimum wage will cause an increase in the company's production costs. This increase in production costs will certainly have an impact on increasing output prices, causing demand for output to decline. Thus, an increase in UMP wages will cause companies to reduce their demand for labor so that the unemployment rate increases.
