Abstract

This thesis is entitled: The Effect of Principal Managerial, Principal Supervision, School Culture and Work Motivation on Teacher Performance at State Junior High Schools in Central Kupang District, Kupang Regency; By Liberatus Watu, NIM: 8112201028MM, under the guidance of Dr. Damianus Talok, M.A as supervisor I and Drs. Alfons Bunga Naen, M. Pd as supervisor II. This research was conducted based on observations and interviews which explained that not all public junior high school teachers in the Central Kupang District have the ability and skills to develop students' creativity. There are 47 teachers or 60% of the 78 civil servant teachers who do not prepare lesson plans properly. The formulations in this study are: 1) What are the teacher's perceptions about the principal's managerial, principal supervision, school culture, work motivation and teacher performance at state junior high schools in Central Kupang District? 2) Does the principal's managerial, principal's supervision, school culture and work motivation partially and simultaneously affect teacher performance at State Junior High Schools in Central Kupang District? The sample in this study used a saturated sample of 78 civil servant teachers throughout the Central Kupang District. Data collection techniques using questionnaires, interviews and observations. The data analysis technique used descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The results of the descriptive analysis show that the principal managerial variables, principal supervision and teacher performance are in the good category, while school culture and work motivation are in the very good category. The results of the partial test of the principal managerial variable (X1), the principal's supervision variable (X2), and the school culture variable (X3) have no significant effect on teacher performance (Y), while the Work Motivation variable (X4) has a significant and significant effect on teacher performance. (Y). The results of the Simultaneous Test show that simultaneously the principal managerial variables (X1), principal supervision (X2), school culture (X3), work motivation (X4) have an effect and significantly on the performance of Junior High School teachers in the Central Kupang sub-district (Y) . The results of the coefficient of determination test explain that 72.5% of teacher performance is influenced or is a simultaneous contribution from the principal managerial variables, principal supervision, school culture and work motivation while the remaining 27.5% is the contribution of variables not included in this study. Suggestions in this study are: it is necessary to increase the professional character and individual traits of dedicated, motivating, creative and collaborative teachers who can create a comfortable class psychological atmosphere, a conducive (interesting) learning climate, high motivation and enthusiasm for learning for students.
