Abstract

The title of this thesis: the effectiveness of applying symbolic modeling techniques through group guidance to increase student motivation. The problems studied in the research are 1) why can the symbolic modeling technique through group guidance be applied to increase students' learning motivation? 2) what is the procedure for applying symbolic modeling techniques through group guidance to increase student motivation? and 3) is the application of symbolic modeling techniques through group guidance effective for increasing students' learning motivation? The purpose of this study was to find out 1) the reasons for applying symbolic modeling techniques through group guidance to increase student learning motivation, 2) procedures for applying symbolic modeling techniques through group guidance to increase student learning motivation and 3) the effectiveness of applying symbolic modeling techniques through group guidance to improve student learning motivation. student's motivation to study. This research uses literature study method. The object of study in this research is symbolic modeling technique, group guidance, and student motivation. Sources of data used are secondary data sources. The type of data used is qualitative data. The results of the study indicate that the reason the researcher uses symbolic modeling techniques through group guidance to increase students' learning motivation is because the symbolic modeling technique aims to change and acquire new behaviors and can display the behavior that has been obtained in the right way and at the expected time. The procedure for applying symbolic modeling techniques through group guidance to increase student learning motivation is carried out in four stages, namely the formation stage, the transition stage, the activity stage, and the termination stage. In this stage of group guidance activities, a symbolic modeling technique is applied which consists of four steps, namely rational, giving examples, practice/practice, and evaluation. The effectiveness of the application of symbolic modeling techniques through group guidance to increase students' learning motivation is proven by the results of symbolic modeling techniques through group guidance to increase students' learning motivation is proven by the results of research by Ratri & Prasisti (2019); Sulistiyani, et al (2019); Fauzi (2018). Based on the results of the study, the researchers gave suggestions to: 1) Guidance and Counseling Teachers to try to apply symbolic modeling techniques through group guidance to increase students' learning motivation. 2) writers can be more creative in applying symbolic modeling techniques through group guidance to increase students' learning motivation.
