Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of emotional intelligence on the mathematics achievement of sub subject of arithmetic operations on the algebra of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 9 Kupang 2014/2015 school year, to determine the effect of achievement motivation toward learning mathematics sub subject of arithmetic operations the algebra in the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 9 Kupang 2014/2015 school year, to determine the effect of emotional intelligence and motivation toward mathematics achievement sub subject of arithmetic operations on the algebra of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 9 Kupang academic year 2014/2015. This type of research is quantitative research and statistical analysis used is a simple regression analysis and multiple regression analysis in SPSS 16.0 for Windows and manual analysis as a comparison. From the results of simple regression analysis X1 variable to variable Y obtained F_hitung value = 5442 > F_tabel = 4.03 (manual F_hitung = 5442 > F_tabel = 4.03), then reject H0 , meaning that there is the influence of emotional intelligence on the mathematics achievement of sub subject of arithmetic operations on the algebraic form eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 9 Kupang. From the results of simple regression analysis X2 variable to variable Y obtained F_hitung value = 6159 > F_tabel = 4.03 (manual F_hitung = 6157> F_tabel = 4.03), then reject H0, meaning no effect on learning achievement motivation to learn mathematics sub subject of arithmetic operations on the algebraic form eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 9 Kupang academic year 2014/2015. From the results of multiple regression analysis and the variables X1 and X2 variable to variable Y is obtained and the value F_hitung = 3717 > F_tabel = 3.18 (manual F_hitung = 3717 > F_tabel = 3.18), then reject H0, meaning that there is the influence of emotional intelligence and motivation toward mathematics achievement sub subject of arithmetic operations on the algebra of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 9 Kupang academic year 2014/2015. Based on the results of the study suggested: for teachers and schools in order to (1) develop and optimize emotional intelligence plays a role in the success of students as well as more attention to the changes that occur in students who touches the emotional aspects so that students can adjust to the school environment good. And (2) more attention and motivation to learn, so that students are more active in the learning process.
