Abstract

Solmization in singing techniques is applied so that students have mastery of tone as an absolute requirement in order to be able to perform a song or song well. Based on the results of the researcher's interview with the cultural arts teacher at SMAN Io Kufeu, there are problems found at school in learning cultural arts, especially learning music. Students have difficulty in reading number notation, especially at the level of understanding the shape and value of notes, the sound of the notes used in reading number notation. This is because cultural arts learning at school prioritizes activities related to local content so that students who have an interest and talent in singing do not understand how to read number notation properly and correctly. The formulation of the problem in this study is how the effort to intonate solmization in the choir group of SMAN Io Kufeu. The purpose of this research is to improve the skill of intonating solmization in the choir group of SMAN Io Kufeu. This research is a field action research using a qualitative approach, this research was conducted in 8 times of learning activities using the solfegio method as an active learning approach that focused on listening skills, accuracy in reading notation and singing. The result of this study shows that the application of solfegio method effectively improves the accuracy in reading note values, mastering the highs and lows of the pitch, aiming the pitch well, and can intonate solmization in the choir group of class X SMAN Io Kufeu.
