Abstract

The choir is a collection of singers with soprano, alto, tenor, and bass voices. In singing there are several techniques, one of which is the solmization technique. Solmization is a system of placing a different syllable into each note in a musical scale. The main problem in this study is that in terms of singing in the choir, students at SMA NCIPS Kupang grades X and XI are not accustomed to singing by reading notation properly as guided in the song sheet. The method used was the drill and imitation method with the research subjects totaling 15 research participants. The data collection techniques used were field study techniques, interviews and documentation. The purpose of this study was to improve solmization reading skills in NCIPS Kupang High School students with the Give Thanks model song model. In this study, researchers had several obstacles at the initial meetings where students had difficulty reading notations or did not memorize so that the song sheet was written solemnization. In this case the researcher sees developments at each meeting where there is a change in each change so that the research goes well until the final stage. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that improving solmization reading skills in unisono choirs with the lagul give thanks model for SMA Ncips class X and XI students was successful.
