Abstract

The "Dahur" dance is a traditional dance to welcome guests and also a religious dance. This dance originated from Kupang Timur District, Kupang Regency. The movements of "Dahur" dance are very simple, where 5 female dancers rotate their bodies while playing tambourine and gong, and 2 male dancers swing swords. In order to make the movements more varied and beautiful, the researcher conducted modifications to enrich and enhance the movements.These are 1) How to teach the modification of the traditional dance ”Dahur”of the Laclubar ethnicity to the semester IV Music Education students?. 2) what is the structure of the Dahur dance movement for Music Education students in semester IV?. 3) what is the process of presenting the Dahur traditional dance using the imitation and drill method for music education students in fourth semester?. The purpose of this study was to describe the process of modifying the movements of the Laclubar ethnic”Dahur” traditional dances in semester IV music education students. The study uses a gualitatif descriptive approach with field action research methods. The learning method used is drill and imitation. Data collected through observation, interviews and documentation analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The results showed that the process of lerning the movement modification of the Laclubar ethnic“Dahur” traditional dance in semester IV music education students was carried out in nine meetings and through three stages, namely the initial stage recruiting students in musik education semester IV and explaining the synopsis of the dainz dance, where this dance is a dance for welcoming guest and religious a activities. This stage introduces and leams the original dale dance movents as well as five modifications to the Dahur movements. The final stage is staging the Dahur tart. Difficulties experienced during the training process including dancers who are less serious and dancers who se bodies are still stif and have difficulty memorizing movements dales dance moves.
