Abstract

A soprano recorder is a simple musical instrument whose sound source comes from air pressure, playing it is easy, namely by blowing. Learning to play the recorder means giving you greater possibilities to enter a wider world. Therefore this recorder is very good to use for music education in schools. Through cultural arts education, it is expected that students will be able to know their identity. This study used the class action research (PTK) type method or classrom Action Research. This research approach is categorized as qualitative research. The research approach used is qualitative descriptive which means interpretation of the content is made and compiled systematically or thoroughly and systematic data collection in this study is, observation techniques, documentation, and field notes. The purpose of this research is to help students be skilled in playing the soprano recorder and know the basic techniques of playing the soprano recorder in the learning process of cultural arts, especially music. This research took place at SMP NEGRI 1 KEO TENGAH and the focus of this research was grade VII students. There are several things obtained from the results of this study, namely: 1) The implementation of learning using the lecture and demonstration model that has been applied to students for one week has succeeded in increasing cooperation and interaction between teachers and students, 2) The material delivered by teachers to students with lecture and demonstration models can make students easier to understand, and 3) Students are more courageous in asking questions about difficulties in the soprano recorder learning process.
