Abstract
The Lamaholot ethnic group is an ethnic group in the East Flores and Lembata regions consisting of Larantuka, Solor, Adonara and Lembata. Lamaholot has quite a long history and also has diverse arts and culture. With cultural richness, of course this can attract people to get to know the Lamaholot ethnic group better and perpetuate and preserve the culture inherited from their ancestors. One of the areas with the largest Catholic adherents in Indonesia is the city of Larantuka, a city located on Flores Island, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Indonesia. The city of Larantuka is nicknamed the Vatican of Indonesia because almost the entire population is Catholic. The city of Larantuka is a place full of traces of history, culture and a very rich Catholic heritage. In fact, for centuries, Larantuka has been the main center of religious activities, more specifically in the context of the Semana Santa celebration. One of the events held every year isthe Semana Santa celebration. This largest celebration in the world attracts thousands of pilgrims and tourists from all over the world who come to experience sacred moments and experience the rich, deep Catholic traditions and spiritual longing associated with the celebration. Lamaholot has a strong element in uniting its culture. To make it easier for the Lamaholot people to remember and study history, a permanent historical information center is needed, namely a cultural museum. A museum is a building that has its own character or nature and contains cultural objects as a museum facility. The objects in the museum attract attention and the museum becomes a source of learning for every visitor. Larantuka City as the capital of East Flores Regency was chosen as a historical strategic location, as being in a complex with high historical value is also necessary in realizing the design idea. Apart from harmonizing function and form, it also supports other historical areas. The Balela Village area was chosen as the planning location because it is located in the middle of the city in the Kerphanian area and is sufficient to arouse the interest of the general public, students, scientists or even foreign tourists.
