Abstract
A similar ensemble is an ensemble game that uses one type of musical instrument. In learning a similar ensemble, students are required to be able to play musical instruments by learning and practicing. Based on the researcher's experience and observations, there has never been a presentation about an electric bass guitar ensemble, although in fact the electric bass guitar instrument itself has high musical and aesthetic artistic potential if it is arranged in a creative and varied arrangement. The main problem in this study is how to improve learning of an electric bass guitar ensemble with the song Isn't she lovely through the drill method for fourth semester students of the Music Education Study Program. The purpose of this study is to determine the learning process about the bass guitar in playing a similar ensemble through the drill method with the song Isn't she lovely model. The type of research approach used is a qualitative approach, with the method used being the field action method. To obtain data, the researcher used literature study techniques, field studies, and documentation. The results of the research conducted have gone through a learning process in several stages: The initial stage which is the first meeting and recruitment of fourth semester students of the Music Education Study Program. The researcher also explained the intent and purpose of the study; The training stage is the stage of applying imitation and drill methods on etude materials and similar ensemble materials using the arranged song Isn't she lovely. The researcher divided the students into groups based on the parts (voices) played in the score. Individual and group mastery of the game is worked on seriously to achieve the compactness of the electric bass guitar ensemble game; and the final stage which contains activities to strengthen the technique of playing together, tidying up the Isn't she lovely model song game, and performing the ensemble in its entirety and documenting it. Based on the discussion of the research results conducted, it was found that learning the electric bass guitar ensemble is something new for students of the Music Education Study Program but is felt to be very interesting and challenging. The challenges through the existing arrangements are faced diligently in practicing through imitation and drill methods so that the model song can be played compactly, aesthetically, and successfully.
