Abstract
This study aims to describe the mathematical problem-solving abilities of students in solving story problems on SPLDV material. The type of research used is qualitative descriptive research. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Fatuleu in the odd semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. The subjects in this study were 3 class VIII B students of SMP Negeri 1 Fatuleu with different levels of ability, namely 1 high-ability participant, 1 medium-ability participant, and 1 low-ability participant. The data collection techniques in this study were tests, interviews, and documentation. In this study, the data analysis techniques used were data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The validity of the data in this study used time triangulation. The results of the study showed that high-ability subjects were able to meet 4 indicators of problem-solving ability, medium-ability subjects were only able to meet 2 indicators of problem-solving ability, namely the indicator of understanding the problem and the indicator of preparing a problem-solving plan, low-ability subjects did not meet the 4 indicators of problem-solving.
