Abstract
Fingerstyle is a guitar playing technique that involves plucking the strings directly using the fingertips, nails, or finger picks. This technique allows the player to simultaneously perform melody, chords, bass, and rhythm in one performance. (2) What difficulties and solutions are encountered in learning fingerstyle guitar technique through the song Blue by Yung Kai using imitation and drill methods? (3) What efforts are made to improve the fingerstyle guitar technique through the song Blue by Yung Kai using imitation and drill methods? The objectives of this research are: (1) To describe the learning process of fingerstyle technique for guitar interest students through the song Blue by Yung Kai using imitation and drill methods. (2) To describe the difficulties and solutions needed in learning fingerstyle guitar technique through the song Blue by Yung Kai using imitation and drill methods. (3) To describe the efforts made in learning fingerstyle guitar technique through the song Blue by Yung Kai using imitation and drill methods. This research applied a qualitative approach with field action method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that: (1) the learning process of fingerstyle guitar technique was carried out in three stages: the initial stage, the main stage, and the final stage. In the main stage, seven meetings were held, each providing material on fingerstyle and its playing techniques. The learning process began with demonstration, followed by imitation, and then repeated practice. (2) The difficulties faced were finger coordination and plucking technique. (3) The efforts made to overcome these problems were through continuous and repeated practice. In conclusion, the imitation and drill methods are effective when applied in a structured and gradual manner for learning the fingerstyle guitar technique.
