Abstract

The problem of this study is whether there is a relationship between self-confidence and self-adjustment among Class VII G students of UPTD SMP Negeri 11 Kupang City in the 2024/2025 academic year. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between self-confidence and self-adjustment among Class VII G students of UPTD SMP Negeri 11 Kupang City in the 2024/2025 academic year. This research adopts a quantitative approach. The variables in this study include the independent variable (X), self-confidence, and the dependent variable (Y), self-adjustment. The population and sample in this study consist of 32 students from UPTD SMP Negeri 11 Kupang City in the 2024/2025 academic year. The data collection instrument used is a questionnaire. The data analysis technique employed is the Pearson Product-Moment correlation. The results of the data analysis show a correlation coefficient of 0.60–0.799 and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. These findings indicate a significant relationship between self-confidence and self-adjustment among Class VII G students of UPTD SMP Negeri 11 Kupang City in the 2024/2025 academic year. Based on the study results, the researcher provides the following recommendations: 1). School principals are encouraged to enhance collaboration between teachers and counseling staff to monitor student development, particularly regarding self-confidence and self-adjustment. 2). Counseling teachers should design and implement guidance programs that focus on strengthening students’ self-confidence and organize group counseling sessions to help students share experiences and support each other in the adjustment process. 3). Subject teachers are encouraged to use teaching approaches that promote active student participation and provide positive, constructive feedback to enhance students’ motivation, self-confidence, and overall adjustment. 4). Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities or organizations that align with their interests to develop self-confidence and effective self-adjustment. Additionally, they should seek support from peers, teachers, or counseling staff when facing difficulties in adapting.
