Abstract
Thesis Title: The influence of parents' socioeconomic status on students' learning motivation at UPTD SMP N 11 Kupang City in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. The problem addressed in this study is whether parents' socioeconomic status influences students' learning motivation at UPTD SMP N 11 Kupang City in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of parents' socioeconomic status on students' learning motivation at SMP N 11 Kupang City in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. This study employs a quantitative research method. The independent variable (X) is parents' socioeconomic status, and the dependent variable (Y) is students' learning motivation. The population of this study consists of 313 eighth-grade students from classes VIII A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, and J. The research sample includes 50 students selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire, and the data analysis technique employed was simple linear regression. The results indicate that the t-value is greater than the t-table value (-3.231 > 0.284) and the significance value is 0.003 < 0.05. These results suggest that parents' socioeconomic status significantly influences the learning motivation of eighth-grade students at UPTD SMP N 11 Kupang City in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. Based on the findings, the researcher offers the following recommendations: 1) For the Principal: Formulate policies that are inclusive to the socioeconomic diversity of students and allocate resources to programs that can bridge potential motivational gaps, such as academic support programs or affordable extracurricular activities; 2) For Guidance and Counseling Teachers: Proactively identify students with low learning motivation that may be related to socioeconomic challenges and develop personalized counseling strategies and psychososial support to enhance student motivation; 3) For Subject Teachers: Provide relevant and accessible learning resources for all students, regardless of socioeconomic background, and foster a supportive and motivating classroom environment where every student feels valued and has an equal opportunity to succeed; 4) For Students: Take full advantage of learning opportunities available at school, actively participate in both academic and extracurricular activities, and seek help and support from teachers, guidance counselors, or peers when facing learning difficulties, especially those related to access to learning resources.
