Abstract

Through research, investigation, and problem-solving, the discovery learning approach motivates students to actively pursue their own knowledge and understanding. The discovery learning approach consists of the following steps: stimulation, problem identification, data collection, data processing, verification, and conclusion drawing. This study aims to assess the level of completeness of student learning outcomes, the level of completeness of indicators, teachers' ability to manage learning using the discovery learning approach, and the improvement of student learning outcomes for those who use the method. A descriptive quantitative research approach was used in this study. Using a method called saturated sampling, all students of grade XI Science at SMAN 2 Kota Komba became the research sample. With an average score of 3.97, the results of the study indicate that the teachers' ability to supervise the learning process using the discovery learning technique in the subject of grade XI Science at SMAN 2 Kota Komba is considered good. The indicators of student learning outcomes in learning that applies the discovery learning approach in class XI IPA SMAN 2 Kota Komba show a passing grade with an average value of 0.96; there is an increase in student learning outcomes when applying the discovery learning approach. The overall learning outcomes of students regarding colloid material in learning that applies the discovery learning approach at SMAN 2 Kota Komba have achieved a passing grade with a final average value of 86.
