Abstract

Thesis title: The Influence of Self-Concept on Career Choice of Grade XI Students of SMA Negeri 4 Kupang in the Academic Year of 2024/2025. This study aims to determine the influence of self-concept on career choice of grade XI students of SMA Negeri 4 Kupang in the Academic Year of 2024/2025. The research method used was descriptive quantitative. The population was all 384 eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 4 Kupang. The sample size was 96 students. Data were collected using a self-concept and career choice questionnaire. Data analysis wa carried out using simle linear regression statistical techniques. The results of the study showed that there was a significant influence of self-concept on career choice of grade XI students of SMA Negeri 4 Kupang in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. This is indicated by the calculated t value > ttable (2.937 > 1.985523) and the significance of 0.004 is smaller than 0.05. The coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.084 indicates that 8.4% of the variation in career choice is influenced by self-concept, while 91.6% is influenced by other factors outside this study. This study suggests that school principals support systematic school programs to develop positive self-concept and career readiness of students by providing adequate guidance and counseling (BK) resources; BK teachers design and implement programs that focus on improving self-concept, providing career information, and guiding career decisions; students are expected to recognize and accept themselves, build self-confidence, and actively participate in exploring their potential and career choices.
