Abstract
Thesis Title: The Effectiveness of Implementing Discussion Techniques through Guidance Services to Improve Career Planning of Grade VIII Students at UPTD SMP Negeri 11 Kupang in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. Research Problem Is the implementation of discussion techniques through guidance services effective in improving the career planning of Grade VIII-C and VIII-D students at UPTD SMP Negeri 11 Kupang in the 2024/2025 academic year? Research Objective To determine the effectiveness of implementing discussion techniques through guidance services in improving the career planning of Grade VIII-C and VIII-D students at UPTD SMP Negeri 11 Kupang in the 2024/2025 academic year. Research Method This research is a quantitative study using a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The variables in this study consist of the independent variable (X) Implementation of Discussion Techniques through Guidance Services and the dependent variable (Y) Career Planning. The population consists of 58 students from classes VIII-C and VIII-D, with a sample of 8 students. The data collection tool used is a career planning questionnaire. Data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test. Research Results The results showed a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. This means that the discussion technique through guidance services is effective in improving students’ career planning in Grade VIII-C and VIII-D at UPTD SMP Negeri 11 Kupang in the 2024/2025 academic year. Suggestions Based on Research Findings a) School Principals are encouraged to provide concrete support to guidance counselors in delivering information services, particularly by creating a conducive environment and issuing policies that support student career development programs. b) Guidance Counselors are expected to use the results of this research as a basis for designing and developing more focused and sustainable guidance service programs, particularly to assist students in identifying and planning their careers more thoroughly. c) Students are expected to be more active in participating in guidance services provided at school, and to use these opportunities to explore their interests, talents, and career goals. Active engagement will help them gain a better understanding of the steps they need to take to achieve their future aspirations.
