Abstract
The problems discussed in this thesis are: (1) Why is positive reinforcement technique through group guidance applied to increase students' self-confidence?, (2) What is the procedure for applying positive reinforcement technique through group guidance to increase students' self confidence?,(3) Is the application of positive reinforcement techniques through group guidance effective in increasing students' self-confidence? The purpose of writing this thesis is to find out: (1) the reasons for using positive reinforcement techniques through group guidance to increase students' self-confidence, (2) procedures for applying positive reinforcement techniques through group guidance to increase students' self-confidence, (3) effectiveness of application positive reinforcement techniques through group guidance to increase students' self-confidence. The writing of this thesis uses the literature study method. The object of study in this thesis is the technique of positive reinforcement, group guidance, andself-confidence. The data sources in this thesis are secondary data sources, namely data sources obtained by the author through books, journals, and the results of relevant studies. The type of data in this thesis is qualitative data in the form of information data in the form of words or verbal sentences, not in the form of numeric symbols or numbers. The results of the study in this thesis are as follows: the reason for using positive reinforcement techniques is because this technique can change the counselee's behavior for the better by providing pleasant reinforcement so that the desired behavior tends to be maintained, repeated, increased and settled in the future. The application of positive reinforcement techniques is carried out in several stages, namely: first collecting information about the problem through ABC analysis, namely antecedent (behavior originator), behavior (behavior in question; frequency, intensity, and duration), consequence (results obtained from the behavior). Second, choose the target behavior that you want to improve, the third set the initial behavior baseline, the fourth determine meaningful reinforcement, the fifth set a schedule for giving reinforcement, and the sixth apply positive reinforcement. The effectiveness of the application of positive reinforcement techniques is seen from the procedures applied in the technique itself, and is supported by articles from previous research which prove that after positive reinforcement is given, there is a change in individual self-confidence behavior in a better direction. Based on the results of the study above, the authors provide suggestions to: (1) Readers: in order to add insight in applying positive reinforcement techniques to increase students' self-confidence, (2) Authors: to better master the process of applying positive reinforcement techniques to increase self-confidence learners.
