Abstract

Problem in this study 1) Does labor Productivity effect employment absorption in Kupang City? 2) Does the regional minimum wage effect employment absorption in Kupang City? 3) Does investment effect the absorption of labor in the City of Kupang? 4) Does labor Productivity, regional minimum wage and investment effect employment absorption in Kupang City?. The purpose of this study 1) To determine the effect of labor Productivity on employment in the City of Kupang. 2) To determine the effect of the regional minimum wage on employment in the City of Kupang. 3) To determine the effect of investment on employment in the City of Kupang. 4) To determine labor Productivity, regional minimum wages and investment affect employment absorption in Kupang City. This study uses quantitative date, ethnic data that is measured or calculated directly in the form of information or explanations expressed in numbers or in the form of numbers. The source of the data presented in this study is secondary data. The analysis used is descriptive and inferential analysis with three tests, namely 1) Multiple linear regression analysis 2) Classic assumption test 3) Hypothesis test. Data is processed using Eviews 12. The results of this study indicate that 1) Labor Productivity (X1) partially has no significant effect on employment absorption as seen form a thirang value of = 2,178 < ttable = 2,200 and a probability value of 0,052 < 0,05. 2) Regional Minimum Wage (X2) partially has a significant effect on employment absorption seen form the value of =5,125 > ttable = 2,200 and a probability value of 0,000 < 0,05. 3) Investment (X2) partially has no significant effect on employment absorption seen form the thing value = -2,157 < ttable = 2,200 and a probability value of 0,054 > 0,05. 4) Labor Productivity, Regi onal Minimum Wage and Investment simultaneously have a significant effect on employment absorption seen from the value of Fcount = 53,12 >Fcount = 3,49 and the probability value of the independent variables is 0,000 < 0,05. The suggestion from this research is that the government is expected to provide permits for establishing new industried. With the addition of these new industries, it will open up new job opportunities for the people of Kupang City.
