Abstract
A choir is a group of singers who sing together. The choir consists of several members singing different vocal parts, such as soprano, alto, tenor, and bass, with the aim of creating balanced vocal harmony and unity (blend) to produce beautiful and expressive sounds. Forming balancing and blend in a choir is not easy because it involves various skills, such as intonation accuracy, vocal strength, listening ability, vocal techniques, and commitment to practice. The choir of Music Education Program, second and fourth-semester students at UNWIRA, can sing well, but their balancing and blend aspects are still lacking. The main problem in this research is how to form balancing and blend using the song model "Izar Ederrak" by Josu Elberdin in the choir of second and fourth-semester music education students. The purpose of this research is to find effective and efficient steps in forming balancing and blend using the song model "Izar Ederrak" by Josu Elberdin in the choir of second and fourth-semester music education students. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative, and the research method is action research with 26 students as research subjects. The learning process uses drill and demonstration methods. Research data is collected through observation and interviews and analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The results obtained by the researcher, namely the research is divided into three stages, namely the initial stage (recruitment), the core stage consisting of 11 meetings, and the final stage which is an evaluation. The learning material in each meeting begins with vocal warm-up, breathing exercises, exercises using etudes, and exercises to form balance and blend in each part of the song. Thus, the researcher has drawn conclusions, namely (1) the steps taken in the process of forming balance and blend are exercises carried out in three stages (2) to develop vocal techniques in the formation of this element the participants practiced using three materials, namely vocal warm-up, breathing exercises, and exercises using etude prepared by the trainer. The researcher also knew that through the Balance and Blend formation exercise, the participants were better able to control the color of the voice and the volume of the voice when singing in the choir and through the use of demonstration and drill methods, it proved effective in helping the participants during the Balance and Blend formation exercise process.
