Abstract
SMA Negeri 4 Kupang has extracurricular music arts activities as a means of increasing student creativity, one of which is a guitar ensemble. In practice, the songs that are played generally use one basic note from the beginning to the end of the song. The researcher took the initiative to apply the module in guitar ensemble playing. Based on this background, the research problem is discussed, how is the process of applying modulation techniques to guitar music ensembles with the Mana Lolo Banda song model in order to improve the skills of students who have the ability to play guitar musical instruments through drill and imitation methods. The purpose of this study is the process of applying modulation techniques to guitar music ensembles with the Mana Lolo Banda song model in order to improve the skills of students who have the ability to play guitar musical instruments through drill and imitation methods. This research is qualitative in nature, the research method used is field action. The research process was to obtain data using literature and field studies through observation and documentation. The learning process uses imitating and drilling methods. The results showed that the training process carried out by researchers in applying modulation techniques to guitar music ensembles with the Mana Lolo Banda song model through imitating and drilling methods for students of SMA Negeri 4 Kupang. The first meeting begins with explaining the meaning of a musical ensemble and practicing the fingering of the right and left hands using strumming and apoyando techniques in playing the guitar. From the second meeting to the eleventh meeting, the researcher gave exercises in the form of utudes from parts of the song until students could play them. The benefits obtained by students/are students increase students' competence in playing guitar musical instruments, increase knowledge in musical ensembles and improve student learning experiences both in class and in the field. Based on the results of the research and discussion, it can be concluded that using the imitating and drilling method can improve students' ability to play musical ensembles well.
