Abstract

Go Laba is one of the traditional musical instruments originating from the Deu tribe, Boawae village, Boawae District, Nagekeo Regency. Go Laba is a type of musical instrument that is played by beating using pute. Not everyone can play the Go Laba musical instrument. One of the school studios, namely the Ebulobo studio of St. Clemens Boawae High School, is still working on the traditional Go Laba music game. The problems in this study are (1) how is the technique of playing Go Laba music in accompanying the Tea Eku dance, (2) how is the form of presentation. The objectives of this study are (1) Knowing the technique of playing Go Laba music in accompanying the Tea Eku dance. (2) Knowing the form of presentation of Go Laba music in accompanying Tea Eku dance. This research is qualitative, the method used in this research is Ethnomusicology. Data collection techniques use observation, documentation, and interviews. Data analysis includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that (1) Go Laba game techniques include body position, hand position in holding Go Laba musical instruments, flexibility of hands that play a role in playing Go Laba, accuracy of sticks in hitting Go Laba. (2) The form of Go Laba presentation is played as an ensemble because it consists of two different types of musical instruments, namely Go (gong) and Laba (drum). Go Laba is played in an order that starts with a Go 1 stroke then followed by Go 2, Go 3, Go 4, and Go 5, after which it enters the drum stroke. The Go (gong) game is sounded from the beginning of the game without pause until it is finished. The end of the presentation of Go Laba music is controlled by Laba (drum) by giving a sign so that this music presentation is ended together and compactly. Based on the results of the research, the conclusion of this study is to find out the position of the musician's body in playing Go Laba, the position of the left hand in holding Go, the accuracy of the right hand holding the Pute hit instrument to hit Go Laba, the accuracy of the right and left hands in hitting Laba, and the presentation of Go Laba music as an accompaniment to Tea Eku dance with a sequence that starts from the Go 1 punch then followed by Go 2, Go 3, Go 4, and Go 5, then enter the Laba punch.
