Abstract

Kobe Dero is an evening chant held before the traditional boxing (Sagi) in the village of Piga, Ngada Regency. Kobe Dero is part of the harvest thanksgiving ritual. Kobe Dero is one of the traditional songs that is often misinterpreted by the younger generation. The problems raised in this study are (1) how is the form of presentation of Kobe Dero singing in the Sagi traditional ceremony, (2) what is the meaning of Kobe Dero traditional singing in the Sagi traditional ceremony. The purpose of this study is to describe (1) the form of presentation of Kobe Dero traditional songs in the Sagi traditional ceremony and (2) the meaning of Kobe Dero traditional songs in the Sagi traditional ceremony. This research is descriptive qualitative using ethnographic method. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews and documentation. The analysis technique in this study was analyzed descriptively qualitative in the sense that the data obtained were collected from the results of interviews and direct observations from researchers. The results showed that: (1) The presentation of Kobe Dero traditional songs in the Sagi traditional ceremony consists of several stages. The initial stage is Oro Sagi (the opening song of the boxing ritual), the second is Kobe Kosu (the night after 7 full moons), the third is Lodhe Nguza (diamonds woven using moke leaves or young coconut leaves)), the fourth is Sagi Wunga (traditional boxing preparation), the fifth is Kobe Dero (night singing) which has three stages, namely: early, middle and late stages, the sixth Sagi Wa (Piga boxing), the seventh Sagi Fini Ga'e (Female boxers), the eighth Sogo (the closing night of the Sagi traditional ceremony) and Kela Nio (split coconut). (2) The meaning of the Kobe Dero song as a whole contains gratitude and thanks to God and ancestors for the harvest received and also contains expressions of gratitude, symbols of victory, self-cleansing and community unification. The people of Piga village still highly uphold the customs and belief in ancestors because they believe that everything that happens in their lives must always have ancestral intervention.
