Abstract

The Ebu Gogo dance is a long-lost contemporary dance, which was created in 2015 and was last danced by St. Fransiskus Xaverius Boawae in 2022. This dance tells about the lives of the Boawae and Ebu Gogo people or commonly known as the glutton grandmothers. This peace-themed dance has its own characteristics, namely the form of presentation, where the Ebu Gogo dance is danced in groups and has verbal and non-verbal expressions, which are able to make people who witness it carried away and feel the dance. The problem raised in this research is the form of verbal and non-verbal presentation and expression in the Ebu Gogo Dance choreography performed by students of SMAS St. Fransikus Xaverius, Boawae District, Nagekeo Regency. The aim of this research is to analyze the forms of verbal and non-verbal presentation and expression in the Ebu Gogo dance choreography. This research is qualitative in nature using field action methods. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the research show that the form of presentation of the Ebu Gogo dance is danced by 3 female dancers and 4 male dancers with 33 forms of movement, namely 14 dance movements performed by male dancers and 18 dance movements performed by female dancers and 1 dance movement performed together. This dance has 14 expressions, of which there are 3 verbal expressions and 11 nonverbal expressions.
