Abstract
The Sanda Kelong Song is an important cultural heritage in the life of the Mulumese community in Wolomeze District, Ngada Regency. Sanda Kelong is a traditional song of the Mulumese tribe used to accompany the Adat Bholing-bholing Dance during the harvest festival. This ceremony is held to recount the ancestral wars of the past to defend their ancestral land from invaders. The dance is performed by eight men divided into two groups of four. These eight performers are surrounded by the Mulumese community, who sing traditional Sanda Kelong songs. This study addresses the existence of the Sanda Kelong Song in Mulumese Village, Wolomeze District, Ngada Regency, the factors affecting its existence, and preservation efforts. The research aims to understand the existence of the Sanda Kelong Song, the factors influencing its existence, and preservation strategies. This study uses a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods. Data was collected through interviews with key informants, including traditional leaders and local community members. The research findings indicate that factors influencing the existence of the Sanda Kelong Song include the sustainability of the harvest festival, support from traditional leaders and traditional artists, the continued practice of mutual cooperation, and community appreciation of the Sanda Kelong songs. Preservation efforts include socialization, motivation, and providing role models for the younger generation, involving them in traditional ceremonies by encouraging their participation as helpers during the ceremonies, fostering a sense of cultural pride, and integrating local culture into curricula. Promotion through mass media and digital platforms, such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and other social media, also supports the preservation of local culture. In conclusion, the Sanda Kelong Song in Mulumese Village plays a significant role in maintaining and revitalizing oral cultural heritage and traditional values.
