Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine: 1) respondents' responses about competence, workload, infrastructure, traffic accident handling procedures and performance at Satlantas Polres Kupang Kota ?. 2) Does the competence, workload, infrastructure, Traffic Accident Handling Procedures have a positive and significant effect on the Performance of the Traffic Police Traffic Unit in Kupang City? 3) Do competencies, workload, infrastructure have a positive and significant effect on Traffic Accident Handling Procedures? This research uses quantitative methods. The sample of this study was 67 members of the Kupang City Police. The analysis technique uses descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results of the descriptive statistical analysis show that the performance variables, traffic control procedures, competence, workload and infrastructure at the Kupang City Police Traffic Unit are “Good”. The results of the path analysis show that 1) competence has no significant effect on the Laka Lantas handling procedure. 2) the workload has a significant effect on the Laka Lantas handling procedure. 3) infrastructure does not have a significant effect on the Laka Lantas handling procedure. 4) competence does not have a significant effect on the performance of the Satlantas Polres Kupang Kota. 5) the workload has a significant effect on performance. 6) infrastructure has a significant effect on performance. 7) the Laka Lantas handling procedure has a significant effect on performance. Based on the results of this study, it can be suggested to the Head of the Traffic Police of the Kupang City Police to 1) Improve the procedure for handling laka then especially on indicators that the investigation is complete and non-juridical or alternative Dispute Resolution, by ensuring that every handling procedure is carried out properly so that every laka is handled well and completed the stages. 2) Increasing the competence of members, especially in the indicators of interest, by giving encouragement and advice to each member that handling laka is a form of service to the community and has become a duty as a member of the Traffic Police; 3) Improve the workload, especially in the indicators of delegation of duties and authority, by assigning tasks that are adjusted to the workload of each division or sector, so that the distribution of tasks is carried out evenly; 4) Improve infrastructure, especially on the indicators of completeness of infrastructure by means of re-registering the need for infrastructure, so that the availability of infrastructure is in accordance with work needs.
