Abstract

The research entitled "Management of Character Education at SMA Negeri 5 Kupang and SMA Seminari St. Rafael Oepoi”, written by Fiolenta Bebhe Gholo Registration Number: 8112162014 MM, under the supervision of Dr. Ruminah, MM and Drs. Alfons Bunga Naen, M. Pd. Positive character must be applied in everyone through family, community enviroment and school. Schools as formal educational institutions apply the realm affective to instill positive character. SMA Negeri 5 Kupang and SMA Seminari St. Rafael Oepoi also have a applied education in the mood realm of affective, but there are still students who show a negative character. The problem in this research is 1) how Management of Character Education (MCE) 2) what are the inhibitors and supporters of the MCE? 3) what is the advantage and lack of MCE? This type of research is descriptive qualitative. Informants in the study amounted to 6 teachers at SMAN 5 and 7 teachers at SMA Seminari. The analysis used in this study is qualitative analysis. The result research shows that management of character education at SMAN 5 and SMA Seminari has been integrated in learning activities, extracurricular activities and breeding and reconstruction activities in planning, organization, implementation, supervision and evaluation activities, though not in accordance with government regulation. The management of charakter education supporters factor in SMAN 5 Kupang is planned based on vision and mission, organization carried out according to the potential of schools, gradual oversight and evaluations carried out with teachers and parents. The management of character education support factor at SMA Seminari is gradually implemented. It is organized by the principal for learning activities and by father prefect for extracurricular activities, the performance of character education in learning activities carried out by teachers, the experience of creating and manufacturing is done by father prefect, and their evaluations will be done by the Seminary staff. The management of character education factor in SMAN 5 and SMA Seminari is problematic scince they do not plan 18 character values, according to the performance of character education guidelines, so that organization, administration, supervision and evaluations cannot be properly implemented. SMAN 5 owns the Buku Tata Tertib Peserta Didik but its lack is too stricein applying the punishment on those who violate the regulation, with a credit score of over 100 points was released without hearing the arguments of the trainees. The superiority of management of character education at SMA Seminari is a boarding school with very strict rules that ofthan cause Seminarians to become dishonest. Completion of character education at SMAN 5 Kupang can be done by reformulating Buku Tata Tertib according to the 18 character values and giving weights in the Buku Tata Tertib according to the violations. Improvements at SMA Seminari can be done by combining the 2013 curriculum with the seminary curriculum and involving teachers in decision making in disciplining students.
