Abstract

This research was written by: Antonia Hendrika Sero NIM 31117111. Development Economics Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business under the guidance of Mrs. Enike Tje Yustin Dima, SE., ME as supervisor I and Mr. Adrianus Ketmoen, SE, MM as supervisor II with the title ' Analysis of Labor Absorption in Kupang City”. This study aims 1) to determine the description of labor absorption in Kupang City, 2) to determine the effect of gross regional domestic product, regional minimum wage and partial unemployment on employment in Kupang City, 3) to determine the effect of gross regional domestic product, minimum wage regional and unemployment simultaneously to the absorption of labor in the city of Kupang. Data analysis technique using multiple linear regression analysis method using SPSS v.26 software. The data analyzed is in the form of annual time series data from 2012-2021 The results show that the business sector that absorbs the most labor in Kupang City is the tertiary sector such as Trade, Restaurant and Accommodation Services, Transportation, Warehousing and Communication, Financial Institutions, Real Estate, Rental Business and Corporate Services, Community Services, Social and Individuals. Partially, the variable Gross Regional Domestic Product sig 0.026 < 0.05, Regional Minimum Wage sig 0.005 < 0.005, and Unemployment sig 0.003 < 0.05 so that it has a significant effect on Labor Absorption in Kupang City. Simultaneously or together the variables of Gross Regional Domestic Product, Regional Minimum Wage, and Unemployment with sig 0.004 < 0.05 so that it has a significant effect on Labor Absorption in Kupang City. From the results of the study, it is suggested as follows: 1) The government and related parties are expected to maintain economic stability in order to increase the demand for labor and encourage the development of existing business units, this is very helpful in the absorption of labor. 2) For the Government to seek to increase the wages of workers so that they can be close to the levels in other regions, thereby increasing the absorption of labor in the City of Kupang. 3) Unemployment is a problem that is difficult to overcome if it does not exist, then the Government is observant in looking at this case so that it continues to strive to improve the economic sector of Kupang City.
