Abstract

A choir is a group that combines various types of voices into a unified whole to express the soul of the song to be sung. In the life of the Catholic church, the choir has an important role, namely accompanying the celebration of the Eucharist with singing. BC Catholic Religion St. Stefanus Ketang is one of the Catholic schools in Manggarai that carries out extracurricular activities to hone the potential and increase the creativity of students, one of which is the choir by frequently serving in the church such as the choir on Sundays or the choir at other celebrations. However, in singing the choir, the students who are interested in the choir have not been able to use a good and correct phrasering technique, especially in singing Latin polyphonic songs. The main problem in this study is how to apply the Frasering Technique to the students of the Santu Stefanus Ketang Catholic Religious High School, Manggarai Regency. This study aims to determine the use of the phrasering technique in Kyrie Misa Santu Joseph's polyphonic song using drill and imitation methods for the students of the St. Stefanus ketang, Manggarai Regency. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research. The method used in this research is a field action research method. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews and documentation. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the application of the Frasering Technique in the Kyrie Misa Santu Joseph Polyphony Song Using Drill and Imitation Methods for Students with an Interest in the Vocal Choir of St. Stefanus Ketang, Manggarai Regency has achieved the results in accordance with the planned target, namely the research participants are able to sing Kyrie's song with good and correct phrasering techniques even though the results are not too perfect. In the research process there were so many difficulties faced by the participants. To overcome the difficulties or problems faced by the participants, the researcher gave directions and gave examples for the participants to follow by doing it repeatedly. Thus, research participants can understand it and are able to sing Kyrie's song with a good and correct phrasering technique.
