Abstract

Maria Angelina Sonia (16118014) "Analysis of Ability to Understand Physics Concepts of Pressure Matter in Class VIII C Students of SMPN 3 Kupang" Thesis of the Department of Physics Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Widya Mandira Catholic University Kupang. This research was carried out at SMP Negeri 3 Kupang in class VIII C with a total of 25 students. The research method used is descriptive quantitative research which aims to determine the level of understanding of the concept of physics in the pressure material and to determine the percentage of understanding of the concept of each indicator. The research data were obtained by giving a test in the form of an essay, totaling 15 no. The data were statistically analyzed, the percentage of understanding the concept of each indicator sequentially was interpreting 81%, exemplifying 66%, classifying 72%, concluding 48%, summarizing 50% and explaining 61%. The results of this study indicate that the most dominant understanding of physics concepts is the interpreting indicator and is in the very high category, while the very non-dominant indicator is the concluding indicator and is in the sufficient category. The order of mastery based on indicators starting from the largest is the indicator of interpreting, classifying, exemplifying, explaining, summarizing, and concluding.
