Abstract

Catholic Youth (OMK) Paroki St. Fransiskus Asisi Mamsena is in West Insana District. In accompanying songs both at the Mass of Inculturation and at events in the Parish, they usually only use keyboard music, even though OMK members have the potential to play various musical instruments including the Juke which is a typical Timorese musical instrument to accompany songs, but they have never accompanied songs. with a mixed musical ensemble. The problem in this study is how the learning process of the OMK St. Fransiskus Asisi Mamsena as accompanist for the song Mari Berlangkah. The research objective is to describe the learning process of mixed music ensembles at OMK St. Fransiskus Asisi Mamsena. The approach in this study is descriptive qualitative with field action research methods. Research data was collected through three data collection techniques, namely observation techniques, interviews and documentation techniques. The results of the research related to the learning process of mixed musical ensembles were carried out in 7 meetings. The musical instruments used in learning this mixed musical ensemble are one juke, one keyboard, one drum and one acoustic guitar played by one person from each instrument. During the research process there were obstacles experienced by the participants, namely difficulties in playing the juke and drum on the tebe accompaniment pattern. However, these constraints can be minimized by using imitation and drill methods. The imitation method is carried out by the researcher giving an example using a slow tempo first, then the participant imitates and the pattern is repeated until it reaches a predetermined tempo
