Abstract

A theoretical study of the performance of guidance and counseling teachers in schools. There are 3 problems in this writing, namely: 1)How is the performance of guidance and counseling teachers in schools? 2)What are the factors that affect the performance of guidance and counseling teachers? 3) How are the efforts made to improve the performance of guidance and counseling teachers in schools? The purpose of this paper are: 1) To determine the performance of guidance and counseling teachers in schools. 2) To determine the factors that affect the performance of guidance and counseling teachers in schools. 3) To find out the efforts made in improving the performance of guidance and counseling teachers in schools. The method used in this paper is library research (Library Research). The data source obtained in the writing of this thesis is in the form of secondary data obtained through books, journals and internet sites related to the topic that has been selected. The type of data used in this qualitative data. Paper is Based on the results of this thesis, the authors conclude that the performance of guidance and counseling teachers in schools is largely determined by: 1) quality of work, 2) speed / accuracy of work (Promptness), 3) initiative (Initiative), 4) ability (Capability), and 5) communication (Communication). The performance of guidance and counseling teachers is also determined by four competencies: pedagogical competence, personality competence, social competence and professional competence. The five performance aspects and the four competencies determine the quality of the success and failure of the performance of guidance and counseling teachers in schools. Based on the above conclusions, the authors suggest the following suggestions: 1) The principal is expected to pay special attention to guidance and counseling teachers/counselors in terms of improving performance through providing motivation, providing guidance and counseling facilities and intense communication for the achievement of guidance teacher performance. And qualified and professional counseling. 2) School supervisors in the field of guidance and counseling are expected to be able to monitor and evaluate the performance of guidance and counseling teachers in implementing guidance services in schools. 3) Guidance and counseling teachers are expected to further improve their performance by increasing knowledge (Knowledge), increasing abilities (Ability), increasing skills (Skill), increasing self-attitude (Attitude), and developing personal habits (Habit), 4) readers (observers of counselor), It is hoped that it can provide input in the from of quality suggestions for inproving the performance of counselor theachers in schools),5) The author is expected to be a reference when going to the field specifically in carrying out duties as a counselor at school.
