Abstract

Mixed ensembles are playing music together using more than one type of musical instrument. In mixed ensemble learning students are required to be able to play each musical instrument by paying attention to the harmony of sound and supported by cohesiveness when starting and ending and maintaining the tempo of the game. The problem experienced at SMA Negeri 1 Bola is that there are no cultural arts educators/teachers at school. This resulted in ensemble learning not being taught to students so that the musical instruments that had been provided at the school were not used. The main problem in this study is how the learning process of mixed ensemble games through imitation and drill methods for students of SMA Negeri 1 Bola. The goal to be achieved is to find out how to play mixed ensembles through the drill and imitation methods as one of the extracurricular activities for SMA Negeri 1 Bola students. This research is qualitative in nature, the method used is the field action method. The way to get data is through observation and interviews. The results showed that the learning process of mixed ensemble games was carried out in three stages, namely the initial stage, the main stage and the final stage. The initial stage is the participant recruitment process and then proceed to the core stage. At the main stage, the researcher and the students carried out exercises starting with scales and etude. After that, it was continued with practicing the song Ole o ina nona, at this stage the researcher acted as a tutor by giving examples of games for each instrument and then asked the students to repeat and do the exercises together repeatedly until they were able to play them. The final stage of the researcher and the students presented the learning outcomes in the form of an ensemble performance and documented them as the final form of the research. Based on the results of research and discussion, students are able to play mixed ensembles by maintaining sound harmony between instruments, being unified when playing instruments and being able to keep tempo well. So it can be concluded that the learning of mixed ensemble games with the Ole o ina nona song model for SMA Negeri 1 Bola students was successful and able to provide something new in extracurricular activities at school.
