Abstract
Medicinal plants are a group of plant species used as ingredients in traditional herbal remedies, where their active compounds can be utilized as single or mixed components in synthetic drugs believed to cure a particular disease or have an impact on health. Currently, the community in Nuaone Village still heavily relies on traditional medicine, preserving an oral tradition that has been passed down through generations. The knowledge of traditional medicine is mostly held by older individuals, and once they pass away, this knowledge may be lost. This study aims to identify the types of medicinal plants, the plant parts used, and the methods of processing these medicinal plants. The survey method was employed to observe and directly assess the situation and conditions on-site. Interviews were conducted with 30 respondents to gather information about the types of plants used. Observation and identification were conducted to verify the medicinal plants mentioned by the respondents, and documentation was done to capture images of plant specimens found in the research location. The research findings revealed the existence of 20 types of medicinal plants used, including turmeric, guava, soursop, kirinyu, chili, betel leaf, turmeric, garlic, shallot, cogon grass, starfruit, papaya, cat's whiskers, betel nut, bamboo, horse's hoof, bay leaf, ginger, hibiscus, and cloves. The utilized plant parts included leaves (13 plants), roots (2 plants), rhizomes (3 plants), fruits (2 plants), and tubers (2 plants). The processing methods for medicinal plants included consumption, topical application, poultice, bathing, and direct ingestion. The most commonly used medicinal plant was betel leaf, used to treat vaginal discharge and blurred vision, while bamboo was the least commonly used plant for treating kidney stones. The most frequently employed processing method was consumption, while topical application was the least commonly practiced method
